Scammers are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their attempts to get your money and personal details. No one is safe from scams, regardless of their background, age, or income level. To avoid falling into their traps, it’s crucial to be alert and follow our tips for protecting yourself.

Be Alert

  • Scams are real, and they can take many forms. Whether you’re contacted over the phone, by mail, email, in person, or on social media, it’s essential to consider the possibility that the approach may be a scam. If an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is.
  • Take the time to research the person or business you’re dealing with if you’re unsure of their legitimacy. Do a Google image search or look for reviews from others who have interacted with them. If you receive a message or email from a friend that seems out of character, contact your friend directly to verify that they sent it.
  • Don’t open suspicious texts, pop-ups, or links in emails. Delete them instead. If you’re unsure about a contact’s identity, use an independent source, like a phone book or online search, to verify it. Don’t use the contact details…
